These were made after I had completed the galaxy necklace, in pretty much the same style. Copper with Patina, glass marble and sterling silver.
Well Im not quite sure about oxidization with this patina. I havnt really noticed much change. The thing is though that the blueish colour can wear off/flake off so its not really practical on a part of jewellery that would rub against the skin much.
The sulphor one that you mention , I am pretty sure is the one that makes the copper turn blackish. I used for the 'butterfly stem earrings'.
The Patina for this one...which is the one I like the most because of the amazing blues you can get sometimes is made by mixing ammonia(liquid) 1/3 and water 2/3...and ammonia sulphate ( this could be wrong but it was a powder form of ammonia). You put a bit of that concoction through some dry sawdust in a container and then you sprinkle salt through the saw dust and put your piece in amongst the sawdust for a few hours - a day ( any longer and it starts eatting away at the metal).
The ammonia is pretty damn harsh though. Oh my gosh....dont ever sniff it by accident as my stupid self has done in the past...hmm yeh lets just see if this is ammonia...oh damn it is.
Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!
Here's the Menu per Category :
Digital Paintings & Drawings | Mixed Media | PhotoManipulations | 3-Dimensional | Vector & Vexels | Photography | Traditional Paintings & Drawings | Artisan Crafts

"You must do everything yourself." (First rule of Alchemy)
Have you ever sold any of the pieces you made? I'd bet you could sell a lot of them ^_^
Ummm yeh, these ones I sold to my mother. She always gets 'mates rates'
Apparantly one of my rings in the gallery has sold too. So that is nice.

Is another girl's paradise...
Do you find that a patina on copper prevents it from oxidizing so quickly? Are you using liver of sulfur?
I'm curious because I haven't used patina on copper before, and I plan to do it before long.
